Food Storage List   

Ask ten people what should be included in a food storage list for long term storage or for emergency preparedness and you will get ten different lists.

Almost everyone agrees that you should have a list and that you should have enough food and essentials on hand for at least 2 to 3 months.  There are some basic staples though that do show up on all ten lists.  Dry goods, beans, lentils, oils for cooking, peanut butter, jam and etc.  I have included what seems to be the most common items for a food storage list. feel free to add to it to suit your needs:

Flour
Sugar
Corn Meal
Beans
Rice
Pasta
oatmeal
Packaged Cereals
Dehydrated potatoes - instant will work
Powdered Eggs

Dried fruits
jerked meats
Honey
canned nuts
Jam or Jelly
Peanut Butter
Oils for cooking
powdered Milk
Kool-aid to flavor treated water

Spices - nutmeg, garlic, sage, cayenne etc
Salt
pepper
Vinegar
corn starch
baking powder
baking soda
Soy Sauce

canned foods
canned fruits
canned meats and fish
coffee
cocoa
tea

Salad dressings
packaged crackers
dried soup mixes
mayonnaise
Water
